The surface to be bonded must be dry and free of dust, oil, release agents and other contaminants. It is necessary to clean the surface with material-compatible solvents and to roughen it slightly with sandpaper beforehand. We recommend gloves for cleaning. For cleaning the surface, the following is required:
New tyres usually have small rubber bristles that MUST be removed. Each tyre must also be thoroughly cleaned with a steam jet to remove the layer of release agent that is present at the factory. When cleaning the tyre, please use a clean cotton or microfibre cloth
NEVER use silicone remover, glass cleaner, brake cleaner or similar for cleaning! Make sure that the tyres are really clean! This becomes visible when you rub with a white cloth (soaked with alcohol) over the surface and the cloth remains white!
The Tire Cleaner must dry completely!!!
!!! If tire shine was used before, the cleaning must be carried out at least twice as thoroughly!!!
Also, such tire shine agents or similar must not be used on the tires once the tire labeling has been applied, as they may possibly peel off the adhesive bond!
Use silicone remover, glass cleaner, brake cleaner or similar for cleaning! Make sure that the tyres are actually clean! This becomes visible when you rub with a white cloth (soaked with alcohol) over the surface and the cloth remains white! If tyres have been treated with tyre shine spray, they must be cleaned at least twice as thoroughly as described above. Also, do not use such tyre polishers or similar on the tyres once the tyre lettering has been applied, as they can possibly detach the adhesive bond!
Preparation:
The rim must be thoroughly masked to protect it from discoloration. Commercially available painter’s masking tape is suitable here. The primer must NOT get onto the rim. If the primer does get onto the rim, it must be removed/cleaned immediately.
The primer must be shaken well before use.
Uniform application on the surfaces is absolutely necessary. The surface must be completely wetted. The flash-off time depends on temperature, humidity and air circulation. When the solvent has completely evaporated, bonding can be carried out. It must be ensured that the primer is completely dry (usually after about 5 minutes). The stickers should be applied within 30 minutes after primer application.
The primer is NOT an adhesive or cleaner, but an adhesion promoter. This increases the adhesive effect.
The “primer” is a MUST to achieve the maximum adhesive strength.
We recommend gloves when using the primer.
The exhaust time depends on temperature, humidity, air circulation and the porosity of the surfaces. When the solvent in the “primer” has completely evaporated (usually 3 to 5 minutes after spraying the primer on), the tyre sticker can be applied. The sticker should be applied within 30 minutes after spraying the primer.
The recommended application temperature for primer and stickers is between 20°C and 25°C. Excess primer requires a longer exhaust air time or drying. Before applying the adhesive, make sure that the primer is no longer damp.
Do not touch the adhesive film on the back of the letters, as this may adversely affect the adhesive power or properties. Only hold/touch the letters on the side edges! Please do not attach the letters when the tyre pressure is low. Carefully remove the protective film from the letters and position them as described in step 3 and shown in the picture. You should then press the letter with your thumb. The adhesive is very adhesive, a re-positioning is not possible ! Tip: The letters can also be applied quickly and cleanly with the help of a transparent adhesive tape (Tesa, or similar transfer foil). The drive to the car wash (WITHOUT RIM BRUSHING) may only take place after 72 hours after installation.
The tyre must be thoroughly clean after cleaning (several cleaning procedures are recommended, especially for new tyres)!
Only flat areas of the tyre surface should be glued to guarantee an optimal hold (do not glue on lamb-like surfaces or similar or straighten them).
After cleaning, the tyre must be completely dry, dust-free, oil-free and free of cleaning agents!
The vehicle should not be moved for approx. 12 hours after application!
Wash your hands before applying the stickers.
The letters are attached to the rim protection rim as shown in Fig 2.
The tyre lettering must be mounted as close as possible to the rim.
Carefully remove the silicon paper from the underside and position it as shown in Fig 2. The letters are attached to the rim protection rim as shown in Fig 2. Stickers that are mounted too close to the tread can otherwise be damaged while driving.
Do not touch the adhesive film on the back of the letters, otherwise the adhesive properties will be adversely affected. Only touch the letters on the sides. Then press the lettering down with the ball of your hand. Repositioning is now no longer possible!
The letters have a slight curve on the underside. With the letters S / H / N / M / W and O it is easy to apply them upside down. Therefore please pay attention to the lower arch, this always comes in the direction of the rim protection edge! Hold the lettering on the tire flank to check whether the radii fit due to manufacturing tolerances of the tire manufacturers. If there are gaps, simply divide the lettering into 2 or 3 parts (e.g. Michelin in Mic – he – lin ). This way you can compensate and correct the radii very well.
Do not glue on sipe-like structures on the tire surface (Fig. 3.) because there is not enough surface. Press strongly several times with the ball of your hand, so that there is no air under the stickers and everything sticks properly (especially the edges)
IMPORTANT:
– Do not go to the car wash (only without rim brushes) until 72 hours after mounting. Pay attention to the guide rails. In the event of a collision there is a risk of destruction!
– Cleaning with a high-pressure cleaner is only permitted at the front and at a distance of at least 30 cm
– Ensure sufficient tyre pressure (especially during fitting)
– The vehicle should not be moved until 12 hours after application of the adhesive.
– Do not stick to sipe-like structures on the tyre surface (Fig. 3.) as there is not enough adhesive primer available.
– The tyre must be thoroughly clean after cleaning (several cleaning procedures are also recommended for new tyres)!
